solutions and infrastructure architect
I run enterprise infrastructure by day and build my own to understand it deeper.
I'm Maxfield Allison, a solutions and infrastructure architect. My day job is a multi-region enterprise Azure platform. My off hours are a 9-node Kubernetes homelab and the open-source tools that keep it honest.
I work fast by directing AI agents while owning the engineering myself. That's AI-assisted engineering, not vibe coding. The judgment is mine; the typing is just faster.

The Case for a Test Environment
A global platform with nowhere to test changes, and the months it took to argue non-prod into existence. The design was the easy part.
The Issue a Bot Closed
A BGP option nobody had gotten around to exposing, an issue that timed out after six months, and the eight days between it closing and me picking it up.
Kubernetes Homelab
Nine Talos nodes, GitOps, Ceph underneath, migrated off a ten-node Docker Swarm without losing service. Enterprise patterns, one operator, and no team to hand it to at five o'clock.
